If you have a new website and you want people to visit it, then you are probably going to be interested in learning about PageRank. So what is Google PageRank, and why does it matter? Well pretty much, PageRank is what the search site Google uses to determine the quality and popularity of a webpage. Thus, it really is choosing if the site will appear at the top of the search engines results. So if you want your site to come up in search results, then you should care about what PageRank things about your site!

When PageRank first came out, it usually ranked the sites with the highest keyword density at first.
During that period someone with basic seo skills was able to get a website in the top 10 results without to much hassle. People were using that weakness to rank their sites higher. Now that time is over and in order to get in the top 10 results on google you have to work harder and build a lot of back links to keep your head out of the water and generate some google organic traffic from google.

So how does Google PageRank rank your website now? Well, in theory, Google thinks that if a page has a lot of links leading to it, then it must be a pretty important site. Thus, if you have a lot of links out there on other sites leading back to your website, it is going to do wonders for your search engine ranking. In fact, you can think of a link on another site kind of like a vote for your site. So, say website A has a link to website B; then it would be like website A was voting for website B! Of course, it does not just stop there. Sites that have a higher ranking have more weight when voting. Thus, if you are linked to a lot of small, low ranked sites and then another site is just linked to one high ranked site, they could be ranked above you.

Do Follow Blogs

Today I spend all of my work day submitting to Do Follow Blogs. These blogs have the no follow feature disabled and when you comment you get a back link to your site. I spent a lot of wasted time before, submitting to blogs only to find out they had no follow which means basically I got nothing for all my time and effort.

The no follow tag was implemented by Google who were trying to stop spammers from advertising all kind of trashy sites. But it had one bad effect it stopped a lot of good people from commenting on articles they had read. It meant that urls in the comment field were ignored by google, and the page rank and indexing weren’t improved.

If you want some link juice go to the search engine and find directories that have “do follow blogs” there are plenty of them. WordPress blog owners have the option of installing the plugin to turn off the no follow tag. If you are a blog owner please turn off the tag and encourage other to comment.

How To Get Traffic To Your Site Without Spending A Penny

There are many ways to direct traffic to your website both paid and free. If you have a very small budget as we did the free way was the best way. Its very easy and requires patience and free time. You can do it a few hours a day or a few minutes depending on how fast you want to see results. We did it a few hours a day and within a month we made it to the first page in goggle search.

The first thing we are going to do is choose the best keyword for our site. We used Top 10 Hosts because our website deals with top 10 web hosting companies. Begin with creating your anchor which will be the link back to your site.

Now there are a few ways of doing this the first way we tried was using blogs with a high page rank pr3 or higher. First of all you should install the page rank tool in your tool bar it will give you the rank of every page you browse and make your work a whole lot easier. Once you have found a blog, read it and leave a comment on what you read. Most of the blogs the admin has to ok your post so better if you write something pertaining to what you read or your comment will be deleted. Then after your comment insert your anchor.

The second thing we did was to submit to web directories. There are many and alot of them are free. There is also another choice free with reciprocal link don’t choose those or the first page of your site will contain alot of backlinks to web directories. It takes a little longer to get reviewed but its free and in the end you will have the same result as a paid listing. The best directories the ones that carry the most weight are the ones pertaining to your site and what you do. Your niche,
you can submit to all the directories but the niche directories are most important.

The final thing i will discuss is article submission such as the article i am writing now you can write about anything you like or anything you might think would be of interest or help someone else. It takes a little longer than the other choices but its a great way to advertise yourself and your site. Submit your articles and drive additional traffic to your site. Good luck to you hope I hope this article will be of help to someone just starting out. Its hard in the beginning trying to understand how all of this works. Once you get into it all comes easily.

Designing Your Site

If you ever searched the net like I do you probably noticed that the most popular websites are the ones that look the nicest and have a professional logo. They are appealing to the eye. This is very important because people tend to look at appealing things longer then things they don’t like or find interesting.

So the first step for you would be to design or have designed a professional looking logo. The logo is the companies mark, Its how people remember your company. I suggest if you aren’t a professional in design you hire someone to design your logo for you. There are many companies that offer that service. Most importantly be happy with the design you choose because your logo will be with you for a very long time.

Your logo will also have something to do with your color scheme. Your design should incorporate the colors in your logo.

Make sure you have enough images. By using the correct images with the design and content of the site will not only improve the aesthetics but also add purpose by engaging the user from a visual perspective. You can purchase stock photography from sites such as Istockphoto starting at a very reasonable price. Professional photographs can do wonders for a site they engage the user and compliment the content of the pages.

Essentials In Planning Your Website

You are ready to begin building now the first question you must ask yourself is “What is the main objective of my website?”

Begin with these four basics:

1. Who are my target audience?

2. What information will I need to provide for them?

3. Am I selling something online? If not is there ample ways for customers to contact me such as phone numbers or a contact me page?

4. Do I have enough brandable imagery such as logo, brochure, or other images?

Once you have answered those questions its time to sit down and draw out a sitemap. When you have your sitemap completed it will be easy for you to build your site yourself, hire a web designer, or a design firm. Proper planning is the key to success.

Choosing The Right Keywords

It is very difficult to choose the right keywords to describe your business so people can find you when they put those words in a search engine. Let’s say you are ready to build your website. Do you understand search engines and how they work? I’ll use Google as an example. Google sends a program called a spider to crawl your site and the information the spider collects goes back to the search engine which in turn determines your position in the search engine result pages (serp). You of course want your site to appear as close to the top of the search page as possible so more users will see it and visit your site. Thats where keywords and key phrases come into play.

Keywords are words that average people use to look for sites. So think of words that describe your site. Choosing the right keywords can mean the difference from being in the top 10 to being so far back in the search no one will find you. Google, uses the “density” factor in their algorithm. If keyword is mentioned more than once it must be part of a message. The search engine looks for repeated words and tries to form a message. You have to find the proper page relevance for the listings. The high relevance will give you a high page ranking and the low relevance a lower ranking.

The word you think is the best keyword may not always be so. There are many free tools online to help you accomplish finding keywords (wordtracker). Find a keyword with an equal level of supply and demand. Those keywords will drive traffic to your site by driving up your position in the search engine.

Once you have found the right keyword you will have to build your sites content around that keyword. This is critical. Try to blend the keyword into the content of your site without using it to many times. Your keyword shouldn’t count for more than 7% - 9% of each page’s content.
